Chocolate Oaties

These chocolate oaties are a walk down memory lane for us - they were the dessert at our school, always selling out before lunch ended. I remember using my bus money and having to walk home just so I could buy one, they were that tasty! Take a trip through nostalgia with us and give them a try - they’ll so more-ish that you’ll be spending all your bus money on them too!

Ingredients

250g Butter

175g Oats

175 Self Raising Flour

140g Sugar

20g Cocoa

 

Icing 

125g icing sugar

10g cocoa

10g drinking chocolate

Water to mix 

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a microwaveable bowl.

  2. Add the oats, flour, sugar and cocoa and mix well.

  3. Put the mix into a parchment paper lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven 180°c and cook for 20 minutes.

  4. Leave to cool. 

  5. When they’ve completely cooled, make the icing by mixing the icing sugar, cocoa and drinking chocolate with enough water to make an icing that is smooth and thick like double cream.

  6. Spread evenly over the top of the oats and wait for it to set before enjoying!
